Landing on the line just two-fifths shy of the track record, Chip Of Evil retained her undefeated record on Thursday (Aug. 17) evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Corey MacPherson supplied the winning steer for the daughter of Arthur Blue Chip in her $11,860 Atlantic Sires Stakes A division for two-year-old pacing fillies as she moved from last to first through panels in :28.4, :58.3 and 1:27.1 en route to a 4-3/4-length victory.
Eddy Doucette trains the newly minted 1:56.1 winner for owner Inarush Stable of Kensington, P.E.I. Goodmorning Nova (Gilles Barrieau) was second with Galway Girl (Marc Campbell) third. Chip Of Evil paid $2.80 to win.
Shesjusmsundrstood won another $11,860 A division in 1:58 over Fern Hill Indigo (Brodie MacPhee) and Last Chance (Campbell). Jason Hughes trains and drives the winning filly for owner Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge, P.E.I.
In the final A split, A Girl Named Tom was victorious in 1:59.4 for trainer-driver Paul Langille and owners Rosanne Langille, Debbie Francis and Phonsie MacEachern. Zendayas Firstlady (Hughes) grabbed the deuce with Promise Me Later (David Dowling) third.
The $4,000 B divisions for two-year-old fillies were won by Elm Grove Support (Ken Murphy) in 2:01.1 and Always Adele (Don MacNeill) in 2:01.
Emperor won the Wal and Joe Hennessey Memorial Pace in 1:56.2 for driver Hughes and owner-trainer Jeff Lewis of New Brunswick.
