Black Tie Bash Tops Rideau Preferred
Black Tie Bash was dominant in the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday (Aug. 17), winning by 2-3/4 lengths in 1:54.3.
As the group of six top trotters lined up behind the gate, Black Tie Bash and Robert Shepherd settled into post five. The Isabelle Darveau trainee and Duke Lavictoire (Pascal Berube) left alertly from the center of the gate. Duke Lavictoire owned the real estate along the pylons through the first panel in :27.4 while Black Tie Bash continued in the lead from the outside. Black Tie Bash moved along the rail and posted panels in :57.2 and 1:25.4 before using a :28.4 last quarter en route to victory. Duke Lavictoire followed the pocket trip to second and Fix A Drink (Marie-Claude Auger) finished third.
Robert Shepherd owns the five-year-old gelded son of Chapter Seven and the Kadabra mare Daylon Mermaid. In 10 starts this season, Black Tie Bash has earned a record of 6-1-2, with all of his starts in the top class at Rideau. He has banked $191,308 from 73 career starts along with a career tally of 24-11-11.
