Tobins Chester Remains Perfect In ATSS
The unbeatable streak continued for Tobins Chester as he completed a clean sweep of his first five races on Wednesday (Aug. 16) evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Jason Hughes steered his trainee to an easy four-length victory in his $11,420 Atlantic Sires Stakes A division for two-year-old pacing colts during the Wednesday evening Old Home Week program. The A division had Tobins Chester win his fifth straight from as many starts by four lengths over Howmac General (Patrick Shepherd) and Resuscitate (Corey MacPherson) in 1:58.1.
Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge, P.E.I. holds the ownership papers of the two-year-old son of Shanghai Phil.
Merigo Magic captured his A division in 1:56.3 for driver Adam Merner, trainer Melissa Rennie and owners Mike May, Herman McQuaid, Derrick Cameron and Ian Walker. Jackies Boy (Myles Heffernan Sr.) was second ahead of Dusty Lane Tito (Paul Langille).
Pauls Crown won the other $11,420 split with a 1:58.1 mile for trainer-driver Marc Campbell and owners Grayland Farm and Joseph Gamba. Dunsan Harry (MacPherson) settled for second with Tobins Barn Party (Hughes) completing the triactor. Campbell now sits at 999 career training wins.
The $4,000 B division for two-year-old colt were won by Peter Pang (Merner) in 1:59 and Howmac Powerball (Gilles Barrieau) with a 1:59.3 clocking.
Merner had a driving triple on the night.
Live racing continues Thursday (Aug. 17) evening at 7 p.m. featuring the Atlantic Sires Stakes for two-year-old pacing fillies.
