Fashion Frenzie Strong In Mohawk FFA
After winning last week's feature trot and entering millionaires row, Fashion Frenzie came back this week on Monday (Aug. 14) at Woodbine Mohawk Park to win again in the $36,000 Free For All Trot in a new career-best time.
Six top trotters lined up on the gate in race nine at the Campbellville oval and Louis-Philippe Roy settled into post five with Fashion Frenzie. Perfetto (Dagfin Henriksen) left from post one with Logan Park (Sylvain Filion) following shortly before taking over as they rounded the first turn. Fashion Frenzie never found the pylons, continuing to charge on the outside as the first panel clicked in :26.2. En route to the :55.1 half, the Richard Moreau trainee cleared the front and Fashion Frenzie faced no challenge as he passed the three-quarters in 1:23.3. Down the lane, Logan Park tipped out and it became a two-horse race with Logan Park attempting to pass the leader, but Fashion Frenzie prevailed at the wire by a neck, despite broken equipment, in 1:50.4. Logan Park finished second and Perfetto was third.
Five-year-old Fashion Frenzie rewrote his seasonal record to read 3-2-0 in five starts with $79,000 banked and his career record to 21-5-0 with $1,035,431 earned. Ecurie Francis Richard Inc., Mario Bourgea, Pierre Guillemette and Sylvain Richard co-own the gelded son of Archangel and the Striking Sahbra mare Striking Fashion. He paid $2.40 to win.
