Dresden Raceway closed out its 2023 season on Monday (Aug. 7) afternoon with the final card headlined by the third leg of the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots for two-year-old pacing fillies. Trainer Melissa Lamoureux swept the two $22,200 divisions with her trainees, Tribal Dancer and Tamara Hanover.

Anthony Haughan and Tribal Dancer posted the faster of the two mile times for the stakes with a four-length achievement in 1:58.3. 

Tribal Dancer sat to the outside of Idyllic Delight (Donald Rankin) as the opening panel was clocked in :28. Once Tribal Dancer secured the front, she kept on rolling through panels in :58.2 and 1:28.2 before stomping off to her open lengths victory. Idyllic Delight finished second and Shutupanddrive (Daniel Clements) rounded out the top three.

With a career record of 2-2-1 in five starts, the daughter of Sunshine Beach-That Day is owned by 1187422 Ontario Inc. as she moved her career bankroll to $33,570. Tribal Dancer paid $3.30 to win.

Tamara Hanover completed the Lamoureux stakes sweep with a gate-to-wire trip with Daniel Clements in the bike.

Tamara Hanover controlled the tempo through fractions in :29.3, 1:00 and 1:29.4 before winning by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:59.2. Raffle Winner (Garrett Rooney) finished second and Halva Hanover (Donald Rankin) was third.

Also owned by 1187422 Ontario Inc., the daughter of Artspeak-Transfer Hanover won her career debut. Tamara Hanover paid $29.90 to win.

The 2023 Dresden Raceway driving title was won by Garrett Rooney, who collected 23 wins throughout the season and more than $100,000 in earnings. Runner-up Andy Moore was second with 15 wins and in third, Daniel Clements closed the season with a driving triple, bringing him to 14 total wins.

Robert Doyle earned the training title with his stable winning eight races this season and earning $23,632. Dwayne Mcfadden, Stewart Mcqueen, Michael Carther, Dwain Spitzig and Kevin Gillis each posted four wins for the season.
