Workinitonbroadway Gives An Encore Performance
Workinitonbroadway gave an encore performance in the Preferred 3 Trot at Hiawatha Horse Park, winning the Saturday night feature for the second week in a row.
After his pylon-skimming score last week, the public sent Workinitonbroadway postward as the even-money favourite in the $5,000 feature and the seven-year-old trotter didn't disappoint.
Workinitonbroadway and trainer/driver Donnie Rankin Jr. followed closely in third while Essential Worker (Andy Moore) and Bar Brawl (Ondrej Gois) traded turns on top through first half fractions of :27.3 and :57. The Broadway Hall gelding then assumed the leading role down the backstretch, hitting three-quarters in 1:27 and drawing off by four lengths in the stretch for the 1:57.2 victory. Monteverdi (Natasha Day) and Hot Fudge Sundae (Alfie Carroll) rallied home from the backfield to collect the minor awards.
Workinitonbroadway has recorded two wins and a close second-place finish since being acquired by Rankin and co-owner Chris Hadrian in July. The victory was his 39th lifetime and lifted his career bankroll to $335,548. He paid $4.10 to win.
