Raising Rusty, Pouliot Share Honours At Rideau
Stephane Pouliot piloted three of his trainees to victory on the Thursday (Aug. 3) evening card at Rideau Carleton Raceway, which included a win with Raising Rusty in the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot.
Duke Lavictoire (Pascal Berube) took the early lead from post six in the field of seven with Raising Rusty following in second as they clocked the first quarter in :28.1. Pouliot pulled first over and quickly took the lead, maintaining command through the half in :59.1 and three-quarters in 1:27.1. Emma Town Bud (Pierre Bovay) and favoured Black Tie Bash (Robert Shepherd) sought a challenge down the lane with the leading Raising Rusty, but the Pouliot trainee prevailed by a head in 1:57.2. Emma Town Bud grabbed second while Black Tie Bash took third.
Raising Rusty is a six-year-old Kadabra gelding owned by 9096 9205 Quebec Inc. He won his third race of the season and 24th career victory. He paid $10.50 to win.
Pouliot completed his driving and training triple with Time To Dancing and Shotgun Jerry. Time To Dancing ($4.90) won in 1:54.1 for owner 9096 9205 Quebec Inc. The five-year-old Time To Roll gelding earned his third win of the season and 13th career victory. Pouliot steered four-year-old gelded Shotgun Jerry ($4) to a 1:52.2 victory for owner 9096 9204 Quebec Inc. So far this season, Shotgun Jerry has had a record of 7-3-0 in 12 starts and it was his 18th career victory.
