Kioti Continues Win Streak At Century Downs
Derek Stout's homebred four-year-old pacer Kioti may have had a late start to his career but he's on a roll now and won his fifth straight at Century Downs on Friday, July 28.
Picking up where he left off a month ago, Kioti resumed his winning ways in an $8,300 conditioned pace, leading wire-to-wire in 1:52.3, the fastest mile on the card and just a tick off his lifetime mark taken last time out. Mike Hennessy guided the 1-5 favourite through fractions of :27.3, :56.1 and 1:24.1 en route to the 2-1/4-length victory with Outlawchippendale (Brandon Campbell) following in the pocket and Crazy I M (Dave Kelly) finishing more than dozen lengths behind in third. He paid $2.40 to win.
Trained by Doug Stout, the son of Mystician has hit the board in all 16 of his starts amid a successful debut campaign, winning nine and earning $41,331. After starting his career at Cal Expo this past winter, Kioti was a runner-up in the Ed Tracey Memorial Stakes eliminations and final in his first Century Downs starts before kicking off his current win streak. He's won his last five races by a combined 28-1/2 lengths.
