Goo For Broke Upsets In Meadows Feature
Pushed wide by a breaking horse through the final turn, Goo For Broke retained his composure, steadily made up the lost ground and pulled off a 13-1 upset in Wednesday’s co-feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $10,900 filly and mare conditioned trot.
Goo For Broke was following the first-over Hot Stuff Niki when that rival suddenly jumped it off. The three-year-old daughter of Googoo Gaagaa remained calm for Drew Monti and set her sights on the leader, Bella Ciao. Goo For Broke prevailed in a career-best 1:57, a half-length better than the rallying TSM Emilia T, while Bella Ciao saved show.
Scott Betts trains the winner for Tim Betts.
Cool Cute Cookie and Andover Jess won Wednesday’s other $10,900 co-features.
Ronnie Wrenn Jr. and Monti each collected three wins on the 12-race card.
Live harness racing at The Meadows continues Thursday when the program features a pair of carryovers: $1,914.60 in the Early Pentafecta (race four) and $936.13 in the Pick 5 (race eight). First post is 12:45 p.m.
