Frontier Cruise Goes For 20 At Summerside
Finishing in the top three every week, Frontier Cruise will look to notch one more in the win column in the Sunday (July 23) afternoon top class at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The Western P.E.I. track has a 13-race card slated for a 1 p.m. start time.
The $3,400 feature hits the track in race 12 with Ken Murphy getting the drive aboard Frontier Cruise from the Jean Bellibeau stable of Dieppe, N.B. The trainer co-owns the 19-time winner with J.C. Belliveau of Scoudouc, P.E.I. Frontier Cruise has hit his groove lately with a win, three seconds and two thirds from his last six starts. The Sunshine Beach pacer was third his last start on Governor’s Plate night behind East Coast pacing stars Time To Dance and Rose Run Quest.
His main obstacle to getting his 20th lifetime win on Sunday is set to be post four starter Sauble Attack for driver Dale Spence and trainer Paul Biggar. Biggar co-owns the Bettors Delight five-year-old with Donald Callbeck.
Ironside Seelster will leave from post one with Corey MacPherson driving for trainer Duane MacEachern. Brodie MacPhee has a full slate of drives on Sunday afternoon and picks up the steer on Coasttocoastshark from post two for trainer Jeff Wallace.
J J Patrick scored a monumental upset on Governor’s Plate night and draws the outside again Sunday, this time with Norris Rogers in the seat for trainer Rick Armstrong.
The "Backstretch Beat" takes Frontier Cruise to win: “Frontier Cruise was a bang-up third to former Free-For-Allers Time To Dance and Rose Run Quest. Company is tough today but not as tough as that start so we see the lion’s share of the Sunday top class heading back to New Brunswick.”
The $2,350 race 13 finale has more New Brunswick flavour as Elm Grove Quest is the morning line favourite from post seven fresh off a 1:55 lifetime best victory on Governor’s Plate night. MacPhee gets the steer this week for trainer and co-owner Alan Jones of Riverview, N.B., and co-owner Normand Leger of Shediac,N.B. Her main opposition is Sports Icon (driven by Patrick Shepherd) and Brookdale Maggie (MacPherson).
