One Last Wish Takes OSS Gold Split
A hefty field of 11 sophomore pacing fillies went to the gate in the $199,900 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Leg 2 at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Tuesday (July 18) evening and One Last Wish dominated the class.
Big Big Plans (Trevor Henry) and One Last Wish (Paul MacDonell) left hard from the center of the track as the gate pulled away. Big Big Plans succeeded in taking the early lead as One Last Wish settled in for the pocket trip to the opening quarter in :26.4. As the field straightened out, MacDonell sent One Last Wish forward and to the front where she continued through the half in :55 and three-quarters in 1:22.2. Big Big Plans challenged One Last Wish down the stretch, but One Last Wish prevailed by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:50.1. Big Big Plans took second and Lyons Bettorday (Louis-Philippe Roy) maneuvered through traffic in the stretch to grab third.
Ken Sucee trains One Last Wish for Brian and David Legge. The three-year-old Bettors Delight-Arts Diva filly earned her third win of the season from eight starts and her sixth lifetime victory as she moved her career bankroll to $175,038. She paid $12 to win.
James MacDonald won half the card as he collected five driving wins from the 10 races with Elodie Hanover (1:55; $3.30), Rock And Twist (1:51.1; $10.80), Leave It To Leo (1:52.3; $2.90), Supplemental Fee (1:54; $24.60) and Snapchat Sam (1:57.1; $10.70).
