Clinton Raceway To Host Inaugural Open House
New and existing race fans are invited to attend Clinton Raceway's first ever open house to see just what happens on a race day in the summer this Sunday, July 16.
The open house will run from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Guests are asked to park and register at the main entrance to the grandstand. The first 50 (families) to do so, will receive a complimentary swag bag, including lots of goodies.
"It was important for us to host this event on a race day, as it will allow guests to see what really happens to make it all come together," said Jessica Carnochan, Marketing Manager for the track. "Fans can take a guided tour of the paddock, chat with harness drivers Ryan DesRoche and Daryl Thiessen, visit the vet and even hop into the starting gate."
There will be a photo opportunity to get up close and personal with a racehorse right under the grandstand, meet a miniature horse and take a lap of the track in a double-seated jog cart. Attendees cans take the climb up to the judges stand and visit track announcer Tim O’Connor, and maybe even attempt to call a replay or do a mock post parade over the mic.
The open house will lead into the track's annual Kids Day event, making it the perfect outing for families looking for something new and exciting to do.
The Mid-Huron Huskies and the Huron Heat will be hosting Huron Hockey Day, a trackside fundraiser with BBQ, silent auction and 50/50 draw.
Live harness racing will follow the open house, with post time set for 1:30 p.m.
