Windemere Best Man The Best At Inverness
Windemere Best Man lived up to his namesake, representing himself as the 'best man' in the field of seven trotters in the Winners Over at Inverness Raceway on Wednesday (July 12) evening.
The Lanny Hanscombe trainee posted a gate-to-wire victory by open lengths to take home the winner's share of the $1,800 purse in the feature class on the evening card. It was the fastest time on the eight-race card.
Rodney Gillis left hard out of the gate from post two with Windemere Best Man, earning their place on the front. Gillis and Windemere Best Man clocked the quarter in :29.1 and half in :58.4 before opening up by five lengths at the three-quarters in 1:28.1. With a last quarter in :30, Windemere Best Man took the feature by 7-1/4 lengths in 1:58.1.JJ Scarlett (Donald Gillis) finished second and Eastcoast Invader (Monica Sutherland) finished third.
Windemere Best Man is a five-year-old gelded son of Malicious, owned by Simon Poirier and Chad MacDonnell. He has a record of 3-2-1 in eight starts this season and 13 career victories. Windemere Best Man paid $6 to win.
