Mayhem Like Me Up In Time At Rideau
Persistence while pushing first over landed Mayhem Like Me in the winner’s circle of the $10,000 Preferred Pace at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday night (July 9).
Away fifth in the sextet to a :27 first quarter, driver Robert Shepherd soon moved Mayhem Like Me off the pegs to advance along the rim after East End, who cleared the lead past the stands and strolled to a :55.3 half. East End stayed strong on the helm up the backside as Mayhem Like Me drew to within a neck of the lead while the duo battled by three-quarters in 1:23.3. They remained neck and neck through the turn with Mayhem Like Me grabbing a neck advantage through the lane and holding the advantage to nab a 1:52 victory. Odds-on favourite Flash Cube sat a pocket trip and settled for third with Dylans Bank taking fourth.
Mayhem Like Me, a five-year-old gelding by Sunshine Beach won his 17th race from 105 starts and has now earned $150,520. Mandy Archer trains the $11.70 winner for owner John Hopkins.
