Knight Angel Reigns In Tioga Open
Knight Angel was a repeat winner in the $10,500 featured Open 2 Trot at Tioga Downs on Saturday, July 8.
Jammin Jack took the early lead but Knight Angel got by just before hitting the quarter first in :28.1. He used a :29.3 second quarter to lead to the half in :57.4 and then cruised to three-quarters in 1:25.4. As they made the turn for home, Knight Angel played 'catch me if you can' and Believer gave it a shot slipping through on the inside with late trot but fell short as Knight Angel won in 1:54.4. Believer had to settle for second. Jammin Jack was third best.
Knight Angel is a seven-year-old by Archangel. He is owned by Jaypaul Hoover and trained by Julie Miller. The win was his third this season and he now has 22 victories lifetime. Tyler Miller drove the gelding, who paid $5.70 to win.
Miller and Aaron Byron had driving triples as Ridge Warren added a driving double. Marc Major had a training double.
Live harness racing returns on Sunday, with a 13-race card starting at 1 p.m. (EDT).
