Nobles Double Up In Buckeye Stallion Series
The husband and wife team of Dan and Christi Noble won the first two divisions of the Buckeye Stallion Series for two-year-old filly pacers at Eldorado Scioto Downs on Friday night (July 7). Five $20,000 divisions were contested.
In the first division, Noble took Gulf Moon to the lead after the quarter pole, increased the lead to four lengths at three-quarters and held on to win by a length in 1:54. It was the first start of the year for the daughter of Downbytheseaside. Gulf Moon is owned by Tim Homan and Jim Burnett. Fear of Moonlight was second and Western Time third.
The Nobles did it again in the second division with Unbridled Fury, who was also making her first start of the year. Just like her stablemate, Unbridled Fury took the lead just past the quarter pole. The 1-5 favourite fought off a challenge from Boujee Bay and won by a length in 1:55.2. The daughter of Fear The Dragon is owned by Michael Cimaglio, William Richardson and Norman Rae Racing. Flyin Bullets finished second with Fear The Virgin third.
In the third division, Strictly Perfect with Tyler Smith worked her way from the back of the pack, going three-wide in the final turn and catching the leader Talkintothemoon at the wire to win by a head in 1:54.3. It was the first win in two starts for the Racing Hill Filly. Joseph Lucas trains and co-owns Strictly Perfect with At The Wire Farm. Cruisin Dragon finished third.
The fastest of the five divisions went to Bettorthanamillion and Aaron Merriman in 1:52.4. The daughter of Bit Of A Legend N trailed Naked On A Hill by five lengths around the final turn, but Merriman shot down the lightning lane, reeled in the leader and won by a length. It was the first win in two starts for the Kenneth Hurst trainee, who is owned by Keith Speelman. Legend N Cress was third.
In the final division, Illegal with Kayne Kauffman grabbed the lead off the gate and never looked back going gate-to-wire to win in 1:56.4. Mike Polhamus trains and co-owns Illegal with Kevin McQuinn. It was the first start of the year for the Western Vintage filly. Appeasement was second with Fear My Grace third.
