Filly Pacers Square Off In Distinction
Freshmen fillies had to brave the elements at Sulky Quebec on Thursday evening, as the half-mile oval featured a set of $12,000 Distinction divisions for the pacers.
Buzzies Best drew first blood for driver Yves Filion, who guided the Gilbert Hamel-trainee to a 2:08.1 over a track rated "slow".
The Cammibest miss, who was interfered with shortly after the three-quarter pole, dug in late to post the victory over race favourite RS Dream. Pacesetter Dianelladechakrika rounded out the top three.
Donald Macrae of Lachute, Quebec bred and owns the filly, who celebrated her first win in 10 lifetime starts.
Hudson Gal got no mud in her face by using gate-to-wire tactics for trainer Pierre Touchette and driver Pascal Berube.
The daughter of Astreos chopped out panels of :30.2, 1:02.1 and 1:34 before kicking home in :31.2 en route to the 2:05.2 decision. Whitemountain Sexy took home the runner-up award and Winner Panic was third.
It was the second win in eight starts for the filly, who is owned by Hudson Standrdbred Stb. Inc. of Hudson, Quebec.
