Middleton Terror Favoured On Canada Day
Middleton Terror will look to be top dog in the Saturday afternoon feature on a special Canada Day holiday program at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The western P.E.I. track has a 1 p.m. opening post time for the 12-dash card, with Middleton Terror drawing post six in the $3,500 top event in the 11th race. David Dowling trains and drives the son of Stonebridge Terror for owners Frank Balcom and Kingsley Walsh. Middleton Terror has put together a solid season so far with five wins and four seconds from 10 starts in 2023.
Century Invictus has post five for trainer-driver Jason Hughes fresh off a 1:54.2 victory his last start. Also in the field are Frontier Cruise (Adam Merner), Merito Hanover (Myles Heffernan Sr.), Sauble Attack (Dale Spence) and Dylan Sam (Ken Murphy).
The Backstretch Beat places Middleton Terror in the win column in the Saturday main event: “Middleton Terror has been handling the very best pacers on the eastern seaboard and winning. He is a major threat at any level and with him drawing away from the Invitational crowd we have to place him in the win position today.”
A holiday tradition continues in Race 8 with the historic Canada Day Pace. Soccer Hanover is the favourite from post three, with Norris Rogers picking up the catch-drive for trainer and co-owner Leith Waite and co-owners Les and Spence Waite. His main opponents are newcomer Custards Dungeon (Dowling) and Rymar Jimbo (Murphy).
Race 5 is the Summerside Legion Branch 5 Pace with Pickpocketprincess the morning line favourite from post five for driver Hughes and owner-trainer Wayne Hubbard.
