Northern Express Wins Third Straight Open At Harrington
Arty Foster Jr.'s Northern Express (Russell Foster) won his third straight race in the featured $20,000 Open Trot on Wednesday (June 28) at Harrington Raceway in 1:56.3.
Despite his third straight starting slot from an outside post (post seven), the seven-year-old Muscle Massive gelding marched to the lead quickly after the gates sprung open. After sitting second to Gaelihill through the first quarter in :28.1, Northern Express took over through panels in :57.4 and 1:27.1. He held off a flurry of rivals in a blanket finish for his sixth win of the year. Remarkable De Vie (Pat Berry) was second to Northern Express with Embrace The Grind (Montrell Teague) third. Northern Express has banked $135,290 this season.
Driver Pat Berry had four wins on the card, while trainer Chuck Crissman had three. Driver Cody Poliseno teamed up with his father, trainer Carlo Poliseno, for a double. Ross Wolfenden and Allan Davis each also had a driving double.
