First Wins For Freshman Fillies In Meadows Series
Stay Sunny led every step to capture Wednesday’s opener of a Pop Up Series for freshman filly pacers at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows. Canigetalouploup took the other $10,000 opening-leg division.
Stay Sunny (pictured above) had two previous starts without a win. But on Wednesday, she seized the lead for Jeremy Indof and threw down a :27.4 final quarter to seal the victory in 1:56.1. Lousloulemon closed well for second, three-quarters of a length back, with the pocket-sitting Deja Jade third. Mitchell York owns and trains Stay Sunny, a daughter of Stay Hungry-Summer Sunlight.
Canigetalouploup moved uncovered from fifth for Dan Charlino in her career debut to score impressively in 1:56.2. Joy For All was second, beaten 1-1/2 lengths, while Beams Of The Sun completed the ticket. Ron Burke conditions the homebred daughter of Sweet Lou-Continual Velocity for Burke Racing Stable, Larry Karr, Phillip Collura and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
Aaron Merriman piloted three winners on the 12-race card.
The Meadows is kicking off Pop Up Series this week for all four freshman divisions. Live harness racing at The Meadows continues on Thursday with first post at 12:45 p.m.
