Five In A Row For Oh Coffee Bean
Maritime transplant Oh Coffee Bean made his Ontario return at Georgian Downs on Tuesday night (June 27) and rung his win streak started at Inverness Raceway to five with a victory as the odds-on choice in the evening’s sixth race.
Oh Coffee Bean cleared command to the first turn, but reclaimed the lead after a :29.3 first quarter from challenger Redland Wrangler. Past a :59 half, Oh Coffee Bean began kicking away from his competition. He peeled to a five-length lead by three-quarters in 1:28.2 and maintained a healthy cushion all through the lane to clock a 1:58.4 mile, finishing 4-1/2 lengths in front of Monsieur Chow closing for second.
Isaac Waxman trains Oh Coffee Bean, a three-year-old colt by Western Terror. He made his sophomore debut on May 28 at Inverness Raceway for trainer Alex MacDonald and won four consecutive races before migrating west from Nova Scotia. Travis Henry piloted the 2-5 favourite, who competes for owners Tess Waxman and Luke MacDonald, to the fifth victory of his career from seven starts. He has now earned $5,173. The winner paid $2.40.
