Langille Drives Five Winners At Truro
Truro Raceway's leading driver Paul Langille added to his chart-topping win totals as he swept half of Sunday afternoon's 10 races.
Langille's own trainee proved to be a good omen early on the card for the Lower Onslow, N.S. horseman as the two-year-old Betterthancheddar gelding named just that, Good Omen ($3.50), inherited the 2:00.4 victory when making his first career start in the second race. The Langille stable doubled up with veteran pacer Well Did ($4.50) taking the fourth race in 1:55.2 for the Well Did Horse Owners Club.
Langille completed his five-win performance during the back half of the card driving three-year-old filly Dragonville ($6) to a maiden-breaking win for trainer Gardner McCallum in the seventh race then capping it off with a blowout victory aboard Gary Cave's homebred pacing mare Im A Miracle ($5.70) -- the fastest mile of the day in 1:55 -- and taking Crafty Xample ($3.60) to the passing lane to prevail in the finale for the Keith Legge barn.
Langille is off to a strong start at the Truro meet, topping all drivers with 19 wins and holding a double-digit lead over Todd Trites and Darren Crowe, who are tied in second with eight wins each.
