Warrawee Vital Victorious In Free For All
The six-year-old Captaintreacherous stallion Warrawee Vital returned off his Canadian-record mile a week ago for new trainer Des Tackoor to again annihilate at the top class at Woodbine Mohawk Park, the $36,000 Free For All Pace, on Saturday night (June 24).
Leaving from post five, driver Trevor Henry hustled Warrawee Vital to the lead and travelled uncontested. He uncorked a clip of :26.4, :54.2 and 1:21.2 to then spurt away from his rivals and win by 4-1/2 lengths in 1:47.3 as the 1-5 choice. Poseidon Seelster gave chase off a pocket ride for second with The Greek Freak flying down the center of the track for third and Codename Cigar Box taking fourth.
Warrawee Vital races for owners Blair Corbeil, Yolanda Fellows and M&s Racing Stable Inc. He won for the 23rd time from 62 tries and has now banked $687,861. He paid $2.40 to win.
So Much More came back to the Fillies and Mares Preferred ranks after finishing third in the $305,000 Roses Are Red Stakes to win in the $32,000 co-feature in 1:49.1.
Driver James MacDonald motored the seven-year-old daughter of Big Jim to the top and faced no pressure while speeding through a :26.3 first quarter and :54.3 half. Dabarndawgswatchin pulled first over from fifth through the final turn and marched after So Much More through three-quarters in 1:22.1 to draw within a length of the leader in the stretch. But So Much More held her ground through the lane, keeping three-quarters of a length in front at the beam with Gias Surreal, off a pocket trip, left in third and Western Wish in fourth.
Don Beatson trains and co-owns So Much More with Kenneth Beatson and Cole England. She won her 65th race from 142 starts and has now earned $1,450,407. She paid $2.60 to win.
