No Plan Intended Wins Red Shores Return
Last year's Governor's Plate champion No Plan Intended was back on red soil on Saturday evening for a winning trip at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The $3,600 Preferred Pace had Matticulous GB (Ken Murphy) fire from the inside post and hit the quarter in :27.4. The half was up in :56.1 with No Plan Intended (Jason Hughes) starting his motion first-over and drawing into contention at the three-quarters of 1:25.1. In the final quarter, No Plan Intended took control and fended off race favourite Twin B Tuffenuff (Gilles Barrieau) for the winning mile of 1:53.4 with Matticulous GB third.
Jennifer Doyle of Earnscliffe, P.E.I. co-owns and trains the five-year-old Up The Credit gelding with partner Danny Birt.
Doyle also won the final dash of the night with First Glance (David Dowling) in 1:53.4.
Hughes ended with a driving triple that included winning a pair of dashes with horses from his own barn, Woodmere Sheldon (1:57.1) and Spicey P (1:55).
The Hillside Chevrolet Drive For Home Series Pace was won by Hippyjohn (Kenny Arsenault) in 1:57.
