Spike In Entries For London Classic Yearling Sale
The second edition of the London Classic Yearling Sale (LCYS) will take place this October 17 & 18 at the Agriplex of the Western Fair District and organizers report that the response from consignors this year has been overwhelming.
Following the close of entries, a total of 310 yearlings have been accepted, up from the 195 that were catalogued in 2022.
“It is tremendous to see this type of growth in year two. This, coupled with the quality of the yearlings that have been entered, has us excited for this October,” said Sale Manager Greg Blanchard.
Two major consignors joining the LCYS this year are Winbak Farm of Canada and Stonebridge Farm who, between them, will offer 65 yearlings for sale. They will join flagship consignors like Seelster Farms and Preferred Equine Inc. as well as a host of other top local consignors.
First crop of trotting stallion Green Manalishi will be well represented in this year’s sale including a brother to $826,222 winner Logan Park who goes by the name of The Hitman Heart. The colt will be consigned by Dean & Ashley as part of their 35-horse consignment. On the pacing side, Dancin Lou will also have a strong first-crop representation over the two days of the sale.
Some other high profile yearlings being offered include a Shadow Play brother to Bernie ($566,758) and Bernadette ($320,260), a Lookslikeachpndale brother to Hemi Seelster ($856,218) and Henderson Seelster ($363,414) and a Control The Moment brother to Ellis Park ($856,320) and Fat Mans Alley ($774,640), just to name a few.
The London Classic will take place this year on Tuesday, Oct. 16 and Wednesday, Oct. 17, beginning at 12 p.m. noon both days. Viewing will commence at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 15.
