Mayhem Like Me Lands In Rideau Preferred
After three straight runner-up finishes, Mayhem Like Me got to visit the winner’s circle after the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Pace on Sunday night (June 11) at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
Sent off as the 2-5 favourite, Mayhem Like Me swept to the lead past a :27.4 first quarter to pocket stablemate Getyourlicenseliam. He went unbothered through a :57.2 half and 1:25.3 three-quarters, and survived a late push from Hes Got A Vendetta in the lane to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:53.2. Getyourlicenseliam chased in third and Ima Dude settled for fourth.
John Hopkins owns Mayhem Like Me, a five-year-old gelding by Sunshine Beach. He won his 16th race from 102 starts and has now earned $141,820. Robert Shepherd drove the $2.90 winner for trainer Mandy Archer, who collected four wins on the 10-race card.
Archer's other victories were with Sunshine Sally (1:52.2 winning mile; $2.10 to win), Doc Fanelli (1:53.2; $3.50) and Other Peoples Beer (1:54.3; $30.40).
Trainer John MacMillan also had a strong night with three victories. Among his wins was a victory by TF Rocketman ($4.20), who made his sophomore debut a winning one while collecting his fifth straight victory. The Sportswriter gelding swooped from second over to land a half-length blow in 1:55 in rein to Stephane Brosseau.
MacMillan’s other wins were with Dylans Bank (1:51.1; $3.40) and Rays Kredit (1:53.1; $14.60).
