Joxter, Prairie Panther Take Tioga Opens
Joxter and Prairie Panther won the co-features on Sunday, June 11 at Tioga Downs.
Joxter easily won the $11,000 Open 2 Trot.
Creekside Pete went to the front and led to the quarter in :28. Lucky Sevens challenged for the lead all the way to the half. Creekside Pete got to the half first in :56. Joxter made his move down the backstretch and overtook Creekside Pete. Joxter was first to three-quarters in 1:26. As they made the turn for home, Joxter left the rest of the field in another zip code, winning easily in 1:54.2. Hunting As finished second and Hall It Off was third.
Joxter is a five-year-old gelding by Chapter Seven. He is trained by driver Dan Daley and owned by Ann-Mari Daley. It was his second win this season and he now has 21 victories overall. He paid $2.80 to win.
Prairie Panther captured the $11,000 Open 2 Trot.
Prairie Panther went right to the front and led to the quarter in :26.4. He used a :29.3 second quarter to be first to the half in :56.2. He cruised to three-quarters in 1:23.3. As they reached the stretch, KJ Michael came hard after the lead. Prairie Panther dug in and held on to win in 1:52. KJ Michael had to settle for second. Ilikemebetter A finished third.
Prairie Panther is a nine-year-old gelding by Royel Millennium. He is owned by trainer Mike Deters and Joel Warner. It was his fourth win this season and his 66th victory overall. Ridge Warren drove the $5.40 winner.
