More Calls For Meadowlands Casino
Gaming dollars are continuing to flow out of the state of New Jersey, which has prompted State Senator Paul Sarlo to issue another call for casino expansion
to the Meadowlands.
Sen. Sarlo's most recent comments came via an interview with NJToday, where he said, "The competition is fierce in our surrounding states, lets face it…Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York State." He also said that he believes "…the casino industry here in New Jersey is continuing to take their money out of the state over the years and invest it in other states."
"The legislature, in a bi-partisan manner, gave them (Atlantic City) significant tools to help revamp the industry, their image, (and) we reduced regulations," Sen. Sarlo explained. "We need it to work. We all need it to work. However, we can't sit around for three to five years and then say 'now what do we do?' We have to continue to make sure we are competing with our surrounding states."
He also said, "I don't want to hurt Atlantic City, I want a casino in the Meadowlands so we can compete with the northern states."
