Lindy The Great Among Six-Figure Sales Friday
While Lindy The Great was the most accomplished and most recognizable name among the horses entered in the 2023 Mid Ohio Memorial Cataloged Trotting Sale on Friday (May 26), he wasn't the sale topper despite fetching a six-figure sale price.
Limited to 10 starts over the past two seasons, nine-year-old millionaire Lindy The Great was one of the 145 registered Standardbreds catalogued in the sale that features some of the "best buggy and/or show horses in the nation" according to the sale's website. The 2021 Maple Leaf Trot winner sold for $145,000 to Christian Kauffman of Michigan.
The same auction that boasted a seven-figure sale one year ago when Lordy Lordy fetched more than $1.3 million, the Mid Ohio Memorial Trotting Sale boasted four six-figure sales in 2023 with Jasper The Man garnering the most interest. An unraced four-year-old son of O U Man - Lady Anna Dynasty, Jasper The Man was purchased by Indiana's Pleasant Ridge Equine for $250,000.
Horses sold on Friday averaged $27,279. Full sale results from the auction are available here: 2023 Mid Ohio Memorial Cataloged Trotting Sale Results.
