'Fantasy' Upsets; 1,000 For Marashian
Dismissed at 11-1, Photo Fantasy worked out a comfortable pocket trip, then charged through the Lightning Lane to score the upset in Monday’s $22.500 Filly & Mare Preferred Trot at The Meadows
.
Although competitive in The Meadows’ top distaff trot, Photo Fantasy had been earning cheques rather than wins and thus was lightly regarded. On Monday, however, she sat behind the hard-working Kandor Hanover and brushed late for Eric Ledford to triumph in a career-best 1:55.2. Nickie K rallied for second, while Kandor Hanover saved show.
John Melsheimer trains Photo Fantasy, a five-year-old daughter of Classic Photo-Tintern who now has banked $125,106, for Jim Winske and William Donovan.
Tony Hall drove four winners and Greg Grismore three on the 15-race card. In the ninth race, Grismore scored with Mr Cruise to give Marcus Marashian the 1,000th training victory of his career.
