Harmon Trainees Hot At Tioga
Trainer Rob Harmon and driver Mike Merton combined to have a grand slam afternoon, including a win with Kilowatt Kid N in the $11,000 Open II Handicap Pace, at Tioga Downs on Sunday, May 14.
In the feature, Rebellious (Ridge Warren) took the lead and set fractions of :27.3, :56.3 and 1:23.3 to three-quarters. As the field made the turn for home, Tuggin On My Heart (Aaron Byron) popped the pocket while Kilowatt Kid N went three-wide. Kilowatt Kid N blew right on by to win in a season's best 1:52 flat by 1-1/2 lengths. Tuggin On My Heart finished second and favourite Cyrus N (Lauren Tritton) was third best.
Kilowatt Kid N is a nine-year-old gelding by American Ideal. He is owned by Michael Spacarelli. The win was his fourth this season from a dozen starts and his 19th career victory.
Harmon opened the 12-race card with Third Edition ($4.20) and completed his grand slam winning the final three races of the day. Coalford Bythesea ($3.70) and Jackie Moon ($2.40) followed up Kilowatt Kid N's $10 win in the Open.
