Risenshine Seaside Repeats In Meadows Open
Looped from the gate, Risenshine Seaside persevered to the lead and hung tough late to notch his third straight victory in the $19,300 Open Handicap Pace on Saturday (May 13) at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Risenshine Seaside left from Post 5 but was circled by Wild Wild Western, who reached the point in :26.1 over a sloppy surface. But Risenshine Seaside was undeterred and held off the Lightning Lane charge of Wild Wild Western to down him by a nose in 1:49.3. The first-over Sandbetweenmytoes finished third.
Ron Burke trains the four-year-old Downbytheseaside - Vivid Shine gelding, who now has banked $215,979 and triumphed in 1:50 or less in all three of his recent victories, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Phillip Collura. Burke fashioned a triple on the 12-race card.
Scott “Bomber” Betts and Redwhite N Goo moved confidently to the point at the quarter and were untouchable from there as they captured Saturday’s $10,000 leg of the Great Lakes Amateur Driving Association (GLADA) Trot.
Tom “Mayhem” Svrcek seized the early lead with Whiskey Lindy, but when Betts got the fast-but-fractious Redwhite N Goo into gear, he easily defeated Svrcek by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:55.4 over a sloppy surface. Stephen “You’re Never Too” Oldford (Holton) and “Soarin’” Lauren Harmon (Bentley Blu) completed the ticket.
Betts also trains Redwhite N Goo, a five-year-old Googoo Gaagaa - Redwhitenbluestone gelding who lifted his career earnings to $95,047, for Tim Betts.
