Time To Dance Returns To Red Shores
One of the greatest Invitational stars in Atlantic Canadian harness racing history returns to the site of his 2020 Gold Cup and Saucer victory on Saturday (May 13) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The Capital oval has a 12-dash presentation kicking off at 6 p.m., with Time To Dance returning to the stable of his driver Marc Campbell and drawing rail control in the $3,800 Preferred pace. The winner of 42 races had been sold to U.S. interests last fall but was recently purchased by Island owners Ryan MacLeod, Kent MacDonald and Brent Campbell along with Brady Doyle of Nova Scotia. The seven-year-old son of A Rocknroll Dance has a pair of victories so far in 2023 including a 1:53.1 score at Yonkers Raceway.
Matticulous GB pounced off the wings last week to capture the Preferred pace on front at every call from Post 6, and retains the driving services of Ken Murphy for trainer Colin Johnson. The runner-up in that dash was Middleton Terror, who has Post 3 three this week for driver David Dowling.
The lightly-raced pacer shows 11 wins from 26 lifetime starts, and the Post Time Picks like Middleton Terror to provide the mild upset.
“It took Middleton Terror a while to shake free last week and he just missed by the slimmest of margins. He’s back in the same spot and the price will be friendly so this could be a savvy choice.”
Also in the Preferred field are Screen Test (Corey MacPherson), Rose Run Quest (Adam Merner), Soccer Hanover (Gilles Barrieau) and Blood Money (Jason Hughes).
Mantario has the rail as the top choice in the Race 12 finale, featuring the final Super Hi-5 of the night. The $2,800 dash has Dowling at the lines of Mantario for co-owner and trainer Jennifer Doyle and co-owner Danny Birt of Earnscliffe. His top rivals are Premier Joy A (Campbell) with Post 5 and Betterthanbutter (Colin Sheppard) with Post 6.
