Steacy Wins Three At Mohawk
Shawn Steacy posted a training triple on the Thursday (May 11) card at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Steacy trainee Djimon posted the fastest time of all the $18,000 feature condition classes, winning in 1:54. Bob McClure and Djimon eased off the gate, getting away sixth, eight lengths off the leader at the quarter in :27.2. The pair were second over to the half in :57.1 and three-quarters in 1:26.1 before pulling away to win by 1-1/2 lengths. New Rules (Austin Sorrie) was second and Warrawee Yang (Scott Young) finished third.
Djimon is a three-year-old Tactical Landing gelding owned by Hudson Standrdbrd Stb Inc, Dale Larson, and Stephen Downey.
McClure and Steacy teamed up for two more victories together on the 10 race card.
Warrawee Yes sat fourth through panels of :28.2, :57.2, and 1:26.1 before winning by three-quarters of a length in 1:54.4 over Sweet Detrmination (Doug McNair) and Mvn (Sylvain Filion). Hudson Standrdbrd Stb Inc, Pamela Larson, Bertrand Gilhespy Stable, and Shelly Macmillan co-own the three-year-old daughter of Walner who posted a new lifetime mark in the $18,000 class.
In the $17,000 condition pace, All Of Me and McClure sat fourth through the quarter in :27.1 and half in :56.1 before a first-over advance as they approached the three-quarters in 1:25.1. The Steacy trainee took over the lead and never looked back as she won by 3-1/2 lengths in 1:52.3. Hudson Standrdbrd Stb Inc and William Hunter co-owned the three-year-old daughter of All Bets Off. Stablemate Century Jamila (Austin Sorrie) was second and Ruthy B (Doug McNair) was third.
