Donatover Dominant In Rideau Preferred
The $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot headlined the Rideau Carleton card on Thursday evening (May 4) and Donatover lived up to his status as bettors' choice after winning the feature in 1:56.3.
Westfiftysecond (Darcy Clancy) was in charge of the mile through the quarter in :28.2 as Stephane Brosseau and Donatover approached on the outside. Donatover took over and never looked back as he controlled the tempo through the half in :58 and three-quarters in 1:26.4. Donatover won by a length as Seeyou Men (Guy Gagnon) was second and Raising Rusty (Stephane Pouliot) was third.
Donatover is an eight-year-old gelded son of Donato Hanover owned and trained by John MacMillan. Donatover has posted a record of 5-2-0 in 13 starts this season and has made 36 trips to the winner's circle in his career to go along with $378,786 in earnings.
