Oh Gouda Glides In London
Trainer-driver Mike Horner sent his charge Oh Gouda to the front and stole the big cheese in the faster of the two $8,600 featured pace events for fillies and mares at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Tuesday night (May 2).
Leaving from post four, the three-year-old daughter of Betterthancheddar assumed command to a :29.1 first quarter and strolled uncontested to a 1:00.1 half. Action came calling from there when Ventimatchalatte ventured first over but promptly stalled, forcing Getitgetitgotit and Hurrikane Msrodine to tip wide up the backstraight all while Oh Gouda coasted to three-quarters in 1:30.2. The 2-5 favourite kicked for home and opened 2-1/4 lengths on pocket-sitter Bettor Deal to win in 1:59.2 with Hurrikane Msrodine taking third from Getitgetitgotit.
Owned by R A W Equine Inc. and Mark Horner, Oh Gouda won her sixth race from 13 starts and has now earned $29,071. She paid $2.40 to win.
