Diamond Classic Slot Holders Announced
Truro Raceway revealed the slot holders for the two-year-old Atlantic-sired filly division of the inaugural Diamond Classic on Monday, May 1.
With exactly eight slots sold, there does not require a random draw to determine who receives the slots for the $50,000 event, which will be contested on Sunday, Nov. 5. The race will have the richest purse of any race in Nova Scotia this season.
The eight slot holders are listed below.
- Done For The Day Stable
- Hard Core Racing
- Dr. Ian Moore
- Clare MacDonald
- Nikway Farms
- Mike Pollard
- Gene Smallman
- Peter Smith
The colt division did not reach the required eight slots sold and will not go forward. Truro Raceway would like to thank the individuals and breeding farms who purchased a slot in the colt division. Those payments will be refunded in the near future.
“We’re really pleased that the fillies division will go forward this season," said Steve Fitzsimmons, General Manager at Truro Raceway. "We so appreciate the support we received from all of the slot purchasers. This race will be the first of it’s kind in Atlantic Canada. We hope it leads to great things in the future and look forward to hosting the race on Nov. 5.”
Slot owners will have the right to use the slot or make a deal to sell or trade it, right up until declaration time for entering the race.
