Lee Steers ‘Lee’ To AHDC Victory
Joe Lee got on base out of post eight with Cheyenne Ryan Lee and rounded home a winner in the $9,000 American Harness Drivers Club (AHDC) Pace at Freehold Raceway on Friday afternoon (April 28).
Lee hustled Cheyenne Ryan Lee for the front to a :28.1 first quarter and kept Red Dirt Boomer (Yogi Sheridan) parked on the rim. Red Dirt Boomer continued to press the leader through a :58.3 half, but the wide trip began wearing into him on the second circuit.
Big Bad Bill (Anthony Verruso) rounded faltering cover and marched uncovered after Cheyenne Ryan Lee to three-quarters in 1:27.4. But Lee already began scooting away to the top of the lane and coasted via the path of least resistance to a 3-1/4-length victory in 1:56.4. Manhattan Beach (Jim King Solomon) gave chase off a pocket trip to finish second while Big Bad Bill settled for third and Salvadors Sun (James Slendorn) took fourth.
Alexandra Goldin trains Cheyenne Ryan Lee, a seven-year-old gelding by Roll With Joe, for owner Antoinette Bencivenne. Cheyenne Ryan Lee paid $23.80 to win.
AHDC action returns to Freehold Raceway on Saturday afternoon with two $9,000 divisions of the AHDC Trot carded as Race 5 and Race 7 on the 11-race program. First-race post time at Freehold is 12:30 p.m. (EDT).
