Logans Hero Goes Back-To-Back
Logans Hero, winner in the Preferred Trot at Western Fair Raceway last time out two weeks ago, delivered on his pari-mutuel promise in this Tuesday's $15,500 edition at the London half-mile oval
.
Indiana Hall (Trevor Henry) fired to command from Post 6 ahead of Lexis D J (Ross Battin) and the Jason Brewer-driven Logans Hero, but the pocket-sitter was on the move early and cleared to command at the :28.4 opening quarter.
Victom As (Bruce Richardson) then began his attack from fourth with Logans Hero following the cover. Victom As collared Lexus D J at the :59.2 half-mile juncture and cleared the lead at the five-eighths mark leaving Logans Hero uncovered.
Logans Hero continued to advance steadily to the 1:28.3 three-quarter pole and battled head-to-head with the new leader around the final bend. Logans Hero took over control down the stretch while Victom As broke stride. The 6-5 favourite then held off Lexis D J and Chewey (Robert Shepherd), who rallied three-wide off the winner's cover at the top of the lane, to prevail by over one length in 2:00.1.
Logans Hero paid $4.60 to win for the second time in six seasonal starts. The seven-year-old Angus Hall-Balanced Action gelding is trained by Richard Moreau and owned by Keith Cassell of Smiths Falls, Ont.
Logans Hero now boasts 25 wins on his career record with $325,131 in purse earnings.
