Class Jump No Problem For Gts Jake

Gts Jake made his Open debut a winning one on Saturday night as he rallied home from second over to score in the $8,500 top class at Northlands Park

Driven by Jamie Gray, Gts Jake found himself nine lengths off the lead in fifth place early on, but picked up cover from the handicapped trailer All Canadian Mjjz (Jeff Stone) before the third quarter mark. He then came bounding home in :27.3 to prevail by one length in 1:54.2. All Canadian Mjjz settled for second and favourite Sixdaysontheroad (Bill Tainsh Jr.) finished third.

Gts Jake paid $17.30 to win as the second longest shot on the board at odds of 7-1. The victory was his second in five starts this year lifting his earnings to $10,086.

The five-year-old Freedoms Pass-Gts Jolene gelding is owned and bred by trainer Gerald, Terry, and Marjorie McGinn of Stony Plain, Alta. Lifetime, Gts Jake has compiled a record reading 12-7-3 in 33 starts while banking $61,985.
