Northfield Driver's Challenge Details Announced
There is a lot of anticipation and excitement ahead of the Northfield/Pompano Driver’s Challenge, which begins on Tuesday, April 11, in partnership with the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association.
Both Tuesday and Wednesday will feature eight driver’s challenge races, taking place from races three through 10. Drivers will earn points based on where they finish in each race (10-7-5-3-1, scratches will net a driver 2 points), and the winning team will be determined by who has the most points at the end of the competition.
Team Northfield will be represented by the American Cancer Society of Cleveland and Team Pompano will be represented by the Standardbred Transition Alliance (STA).
The American Cancer Society is the leading cancer-fighting organization with a vision of ending cancer as we know it for everyone. They are the only organization working to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research and patient support.
“The American Cancer Society is grateful to be chosen as a charity for this tremendous event,” said Kelly Standish, Senior Corporate Relations Manager. “We are on a mission to change cancer as we know it, for everyone, everywhere.”
The Standardbred Transition Alliance aims to accredit, inspect and award grants to approved organizations that acquire, rehabilitate, train and re-home Standardbreds following their racing career. Funding for the STA is generated across a spectrum of outlets throughout the industry.
“The STA is so pleased to have been chosen to participate in this epic driver’s challenge,” said administrator Jennifer Daniels. “We’ll be rooting for our team and are hopeful we’ll win a little money to fund our 2023 grant awards.”
Post time on Tuesday and Wednesday evening is 6 p.m.
