Ideal Perception A Popular Preferred Winner
Stepping up in class to take on foes in Monday’s $13,000 for Preferred horses and geldings didn’t bother the betting public one iota, and the speedster came through on the odds-on promises for a couple of Anthonys.
It was Haughan in the bike for trainer Beaton, and together they watched the six-year-old son of American Ideal-Southwind Siren blast his way to the top from Post 2 and then carve out fractions of :27.4, :56.4 and 1:25.1 before using a :28.4 final frame to win by a half-length margin over Sportsline in 1:54. Woodmere Rollnpop tagged along and took home the show dough.
Ideal Perception, who is owned by S S G Stable of North Boston, New York, won for the second time this season and for the 18th time in his career. The $6,500 payday lifted his lifetime earnings to $295,467.
