Moosette Mows Foes In Fraser Feature
Odds-on favourite Moosette plowed past her competition with a last-to-first swoop to take the $10,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace at Fraser Downs on Thursday night (March 30).
Stash The Cookies pushed for the front to a :27 first quarter with Hang On Sloopy settling in the pocket. The field stayed in order through a :57 half with action coming up the backside from Miss Itunes pulling first over from third with Moosette following suit. Past three-quarters in 1:25.1, Stash The Cookies battled for the lead through the turn and the stretch as Miss Itunes bore down on her, though Moosette vaulted off her cover and came over the top of the mares to land a head victory in 1:53.3. Miss Itunes finished second and Stash The Cookies took third.
A homebred for Shale Stables, Moosette won her 26th race from 72 starts and has now banked $190,578. Jim Marino trains the six-year-old daughter of Hes Watching. Brandon Campbell drove the $3.90 winner.
