The Fixer Fires In Flamboro Feature
Odds-on favourite The Fixer circled to the lead and strolled to the finish to take the $11,500 featured trot at Flamboro Downs on Sunday night (March 19).
Driver Scott Coulter cleared the lead with the David Frey trainee after a :28.2 first quarter to pocket Sicario, who launched from the outermost post in the field of seven to take an early lead. The Fixer coasted to a :57.3 half and through three-quarters in 1:27.2 as Thirdtimesthedream mounted a mild first-over bid up the backside. With Sicario drafting in the pocket, The Fixer nonetheless spun strongly for home under minimal threat to post a 1-3/4-length win in 1:57.1 over the pocket-sitter. Magnificent Seven rallied to finish third and Thirdtimesadream settled for fourth.
The Fixer, a seven-year-old gelding by Trixton, competes for owner 1652281 Ontario Limited. He won his 19th race from 108 starts and has now earned $264,128. He paid $3.40 to win.
