Sizzlen Hot Herbie Sweeps In Western Fair Feature
Sizzlen Hot Herbie earned back-to-back Preferred victories after winning the $13,000 feature for the second week in a row on Tuesday (Feb. 21) evening at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
Betting favourite Power And Grace grabbed the early lead before Scene A Magician took over. Sizzlen Hot Herbie was eighth, 9-1/2 lengths off the leader, as the field reached the opening quarter in :27.4. Power And Grace pulled out of the pocket to retake the lead. The field was split in two with four on the rail and four on the outside as they passed the half in :58.2. Andy Over led the outer charge to challenge Power And Grace at the three-quarters in 1:27.2. Sizzlen Hot Herbie (Natasha Day) pulled four-wide around the final turn to sweep the field from last, winning by a nose in 1:58. O Narutac Perfetto (Scott Coulter) was second and Andy Over (Ed Hensley) was third.
Sizzlen Hot Herbie is owned and trained by Natasha Day. The nine-year-old Here Comes Herbie gelding has just over $250,000 in career earnings with 29 trips to the winner's circle.
