Maritimes 2023 Stakes Schedule Released

Officials from the provincial harness racing industry associations in the Maritimes today released the 2023 regional stakes schedule.

The 2023 schedule starts with the prestigious Turner Memorial on May 21 at Truro Raceway for three-year-old pacing colts and fillies. The first event for two-year-old pacers will be in Woodstock, New Brunswick on July 7 in leg one of the New Brunswick Breeders. Trot events start with the Atlantic Sires Stakes on July 11 at Red Shores Summerside as part of the traditional Lobster Carnival Week program. The 2023 Atlantic Sires Stakes events will conclude with the Atlantic Breeders Crown on Sunday, Oct. 8. Home Hardware returns for its third season to sponsor the Home Hardware Maritime Breeders Stakes for two- and three-year-old pacers with legs in both Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.

Invitational level pacers start their stakes season on June 17 at Woodstock, where competitors will again earn points towards the Premier's Cup, which also will be part of the Atlantic Breeders Crown weekend in October. Aged pacing mares and aged trotters will also have a full schedule of events throughout the season.
