Pair Of Imports Excel In Meadowlands Qualifiers
The barn of Shane and Lauren Tritton sent two fresh-to-the-U.S. horses to the track for the Saturday (Jan. 21) qualifying session at The Meadowlands to a pair of strong miles.
Harry Knows, a six-year-old Irish trotting gelding by Amstrong Jet, opened the session with a 1:53.4 win off a quarter-move to the lead in rein to Lauren Tritton.
In Ireland, Harry Knows won 23 races from 33 starts and amassed earnings of €34,180 while also earning the national title for Trotter of the Year. Patrick Kane campaigned the gelding before sending him to Team Tritton’s operation based in New York.
Millionaire Lochinvar Art A paced his first recorded mile over American soil since shipping from the stomping grounds of Team Tritton. Lauren Tritton sat a pocket trip with the eight-year-old Modern Art stallion and kicked home in :26.3 to win in 1:52.1.
Down under, Lochinvar Art A won 28 races from 56 starts, earning $1,022,568 CAD. Owner Kevin Gordon exported Lochinvar Art to the U.S. after the stallion suffered a minor bleed in a stakes final at Trots Melton in September 2022. Having the opportunity to race on Lasix was reportedly part of the decision to send the star pacer to North America.
