Killer Instinct Goes Extra Distance To Win
He travelled a circuitous path to victory, but Killer Instinct got there all the same, winning his second straight in the feature on Thursday (Jan. 19) at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $15,400 Conditioned Trot.
Killer Instinct was forced three wide to the lead from post nine before being pocketed by Alana Hill. Hunter Myers moved him off the cones in the final turn to pass the tiring Alana Hill, then darted back to the inside for the drive. Killer Instinct saw a good bit of the sloppy racetrack, but he prevailed in 1:56.3. Max raced well first over for second, three lengths back, with Ripple Of Hope third.
Melanie O’Donnell trains the five-year-old Southwind Frank-Wheely Quick gelding, who now boasts a bankroll of $227,381, and owns with Corey Hendricks.
Ronnie Wrenn Jr. collected three wins on the 13-race card, including a pair for trainer Stacey Currie.
