Sizzlen And Rollin' In Western Fair Preferreds
Tuesday (Jan. 10) evening action at The Raceway at the Western Fair District featured two $13,000 top classes as the Preferred Handicap Pace and Preferred Handicap Trot with Roll With The Flow and Sizzlen Hot Herbie impressing in their respective classes.
Roll With The Flow (Travis Henry) got away fourth off the car as the even odds favourite in the Preferred Handicap Pace. Mad Man Hill (Tyler Borth) earned his spot at the top just before the :28 opening panel. Going into the first turn, Bayfield Beach (Jason Ryan) pulled first over and Roll With The Flow followed his cover. Mad Man Hill fended the outer flow off using a 30-second breather to get to the half in :58. Bayfield Beach was relentless and kept surging forward, but not before Roll With The Flow tipped out once more in a three-wide move to the top. As the field reached three-quarters in 1:27, Roll With The Flow kept rolling on the outside, separating himself from his competitors. Ideal Perception flew down the stretch, but was caught by a neck at the wire. Roll With The Flow stopped the timer in 1:56.3. Cheddar Bay (Bradley Harris) rounded out the triactor.
Roll With The Flow is a four-year-old gelded son of Roll With Joe and the Artsplace mare Streisands Place. Trainer Blake MacIntosh co-owns the career winner of nine races and $183,458 with Hutt Racing Stable and Middlebrook Racing L P.
Sizzlen Hot Herbie capped off the evening card with a win as the bettors' choice in the Preferred Handicap Trot. Esquire (Tyler Borth) was the first to the front from post position three as Sizzlen Hot Herbie (Natasha Day) followed to take the pocket trip to the quarter in :29. Day and Sizzlen Hot Herbie maintained position on the rail as the field split in two going to the :59.3 half. Charmbo Prince (Paul MacKenzie) lead the efforts of the outer flow, seeking a challenge at the top against Esquire. The three-quarters was hit in 1:29.3 before the field was three-wide at the top. Around the final turn, a gap was formed among the top contenders that was just wide enough for Day to maneuver Sizzlen Hot Herbie between and across the wire to win by just a head in 2:00.2. Run Like Hill (Samuel Fillion) charged up the outside, finishing second, and Charmbo Prince grabbed third.
Sizzlen Hot Herbie is owned and trained by Natasha Day. A nine-year-old gelded son of Here Comes Herbie, Sizzlen Hot Herbie has $237,520 in career earnings with 27 wins.
