Need To Breathe Wire-To-Wire In Mohawk Preferred
Need To Breathe was a wire-to-wire winner in the $30,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred 2 on Friday evening (Dec. 30) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Travis Cullen was at the controls of Need To Breathe for the ninth race on a sloppy track at Mohawk. Ahoy (Jody Jamieson) left quick and early against her opponents, reaching the top first but not for long as Need To Breathe refused a pocket trip. Need To Breathe took command just before the :27.3 opening panel. Need To Breathe fought against the rain to race through the half in :57.3 and three-quarters in 1:25.1. Turning for home, Need To Breathe widened her lead, winning by 4-1/2 lengths in 1:53. Sporty Tori (Bob McClure) finished second and Dabarndawgswatchin (Trevor Henry) grabbed third.
Need To Breathe is a three-year-old Riggins filly out of the Western Ideal mare Christie Hanover. Trained by Jodie Cullen, the filly has made $253,945 this season with a record of 8-5-6 in 22 starts. A1stable, Paul Sanders and Blair Kidd co-own Need To Breathe.
